Lovin’ the Sweet Life!
Friday, 8th October 2010I have been bloomin’ blown away by people’s generosity during the making of my album.. Just before my photoshoot, I popped into a gorgeous shop that sells cards, candles and vintage accessories in my local town, only to notice a mannequin donning the most amazing 1950’s original lace petticoat. I’d already been introduced to Wendy Sharples and Vicky Perrett who own their own Vintage Clothing Boutique. They’d so generously donated 6 vintage outfits for the shoot, and we’d decided it’d be cool to find a petticoat from somewhere to complete my look…
So, there it was staring me in the face, and so was the price tag, which, being a budding musician, I couldn’t afford… During the last few months if there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s ‘if you don’t ask, you don’t get!’ and there’s really no harm in asking people if they’ll help you, the worst they can do is say no! So, I approached the owner and the most lovely Jane, who runs her business ‘For The Love Of Old’ in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, GAVE me her 1950’s petticoat for the shoot.. Oooooh and, if you’re ever in Manchester, ‘Off The Cut’ Women’s Boutique in Affleck’s Palace have the most gorgeous collection of clothing and accessories, it’s such a cool shop (they donated the cream fur coat featured in the photoshoot) or you can buy online.
As my Album’s called Have Your Cake… it was pretty vital that there was cake involved, so when Gwyneth & Mike from Vintage Afternoon Teas contacted me to say they’d heard about my shoot and wanted to provide the cakes and china, it was the icing on the.. yes, you know it, cake….
In fact, every single person who has helped or taken part in this project has been a juicy cherry on top of a big fat delicious cake… Doing it without them would have resulted in me having a plain, tasteless crumb of an album… so I am very grateful!!
